About this Event
This multi-class series, Food For Life: Nutrition Essentials, explains why a plant-based diet is effective in improving overall health and attaining a healthy weight. The series is based on research by leading medical and nutrition experts and favors vegetables, fruits, legumes, and whole grains.
Nutrition Essentials will help you start to lose excess weight, while likely improving important health markers such as cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels.
Your ticket includes admission to four one-hour classes on Tuesdays from 12 noon to 1:15 p.m., covering the following topics:
- July 7, Class 1: Kickstart Your Health | Power Plate | Weight & Diabetes
- July 14, Class 2: Let’s Go! | 3-Week Kickstart Program | How to Read Food Labels
- July 21, Class 3: Getting in Gear | Reinforcing the Vegan Diet | Ingredient Substitutions

Depending on one’s personal goals, the Nutrition Essentials series is about losing weight, maintaining a healthy weight, or simply embracing an overall healthful way of eating. We will talk about making a qualitative shift in the way we eat as opposed to a quantitative shift. We won’t talk about restricting amounts of foods or counting calories, but rather choosing the right plant-based foods as a guiding principle for losing weight and staying healthy.
